Light Emiting Diode is a new generation of high efficiency light source that flooded the market recently in the form of LED sources in different shapes in existing luminaires (LED retrofit) or specially designed luminaires with integrated LED. Everyday’s development of LED technology results in higher efficiency with up to 6 times less energy use and 20 times (in comparison to halogen bulbs) to more than 50 times (in comparison to incandescent bulbs) longer lifespan. Besides that they do not contain mercury and do not emit UV radiation.
Because the market is full of LED bulbs, LED lamps, and LED semiproducts the consumer usually faces dilemma what of all that offer is really worth the money. Unfortunately, usually crucial stays the price over the quality that is not recognizable.
Because of all that our proposition is to contact us for advice or engage our team to prepare the right solution for you from the idea to the final installation.
Since the beginning of the millenium a tiny LED indication light developed into a Power LED chip as a serious source of light. Every day it gets more efficient and it’s minature size anables numerous design solutions , that were even impossible.
Advantages of LED lighting:
- Very low energy consuming (savings up to 80%)
- Avarage lifespan 10-15 years of operation
- Mechanical durability
- No UV radiation – suitable for museum lighting and lighting of very sensitive items
- Minimal IR radiation in direction of lighting. In the opposite direction LED emits heat that has to be dissipated with different cooling solutions.
- Does not contain dagerous substances (mercury, dangerous gases, lead…)
- Current turning on , no strobo effect
- Resistant to on-off scenario and possibility of dimming 0-100%
- Small size admirable to designers and developers
- Directional light without special filters
- Wide range of colour temperature of white light and RGB – this feature results in wide application examples with possibility of colour mixing of 16 000 000 colours
- Lower maintenance expenses up to 90%
- High energy efficiency (>100lm/W)
Disadvantages of LED lighting:
- High price – profitability is a result of energy /maintenance ratio
- Thermal sensitivity – efficiency decreases with higher enviromental temperature of LED chip
- Sensitivity to stability of voltage/current ratio and right polarity
- lower CRI (colour rendering index)
- weak horizontal light dispersion
The size of the LED chip anabled development in different directions regarding function, technology, design, application…
One of applications is retrofit solution to substitute existing incandescent and halogen bulbs. Solution of construction issues leaded to production of retrofit LED bulbs for all types of incandescent bulbs. There are substitution models for directional low and high voltage halogen bulbs and fluorescent tubes too.
At the same time we witnessed the development of semiproducts with LED chips on solid PCB (printed circuit board) staggered in row or matrix. Flexible selfadhesive PCB with row of different chips at different spaces are very popular nowadays. They are standardized due to the power of 4,8W/m, 7,2W/m, 9,6W/m, 14,4W/m, 19,6W/m… The type of interconection gives the possibility to cut the PCB in 20-50mm segments. There are aluminium decorative profiles with various difusers and shapes for holding such linear LED lights. That makes possible linear lighting installations in recessed, surface, pendant, cove and other interior and exterior applications with in a very slim design.
Usage of RGB LED ribbons and colour mixing gives additional possibilities of static or dynamic lighting in interior and exterior depending of the type of controller applied. In every case very precise and professional installation of such lighting system is very important to make true all the advantages of LED lighting for the consumer.
LED ribbon installed in combination with specially treated lightconductive polymer sheets gives even and difuse surface light in the form of flat light emiting panel. The principle is taken from the flat LED TV. The application can be light panel on the ceiling, wall, floor, furniture…We have examples of museum application, advertising panels, decorative or common lighting, depending of the power of LED ribbon and size of the panel.
Today we have high power LED panel lights that can be recessed, surface mounted or pendant with intensity that is very near to the fluorescent luminaires. They have very high efficiency, extremely long lifespan, very slim and modern design.
